Banking that has gone to the dogs ... and is fun too
29 Jul 2010Banking is a dog-eat-dog world but the first new high street bank to open in 143 years is more interested in giving dogs, and children, somewhere to play.
Metro Bank opened its doors in Holborn today to a crowd of customers who put their dogs - and opening hours that don't clash with working hours - first. They also brought their children to take advantage of a new attitude - banking as entertainment.
Beth Murray, 25, an account manager from Islington, emptied her piggy bank in the "magic money" machine. The coin counter gives the option of playing a game. Vernon Hill, vice-chairman, said: "We want to make banking fun. Why shouldn't a bank be entertainment?"
