We're sorry Coleen, say parents of Wayne Rooney prostitute

The parents of the woman Wayne Rooney allegedly paid for sex today offered their “sincere” apologies to the footballer's wife.

Hamish and Dana Thompson broke their silence following allegations that their 21-year-old daughter Jennifer regularly had sex with the England striker while Coleen, 24, was pregnant.

Mr Thompson said: “This may sound somewhat hollow, but my wife and I would never condone what has or may have happened.”

The couple said in their statement that the last few days had been “extremely trying” for them and their family.

“Following the various newspaper articles concerning our daughter Jennifer, we would like to offer our most sincere apologies to Coleen Rooney and her family,” the Thompsons said.

“We had absolutely no idea about any of the allegations and claims that have been made. Jennifer is our daughter and we love her and we will deal with this matter as a family, not via the media.”

Mr Thompson, who has been described as a leading petroleum engineering expert, lives with his wife in Bolton. They have three sons Alexander, Charlie and Max.

There has been a continuing stream of allegations about Rooney's private life since the claims about Ms Thompson, a former public schoolgirl who became a £1,200-a-night prostitute known as Juicy Jeni.

Rooney last night managed to put the negative headlines behind him to score the opening goal against Switzerland, which helped England to a 3-1 win in their Euro 2012 qualifier, but today faced reports that he paid Ms Thompson and her friend Helen Wood, 23, to join him in a threesome at a Manchester hotel.

Rooney remained inside his mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, and is said to be preparing to meet his wife for crisis talks.

Who can question the parents' motives? Kerching.

Why? What the hell has it got to do with them? (Unless they were pressured into making a comment like that, of course)

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear. The parents of a 24 year old man apologising for him? What is he - a child? These people should butt out and let Rooney grow up. Errr - maybe this is the trouble?

The parents are obviously decent & understandably concerned.
Their other children are not prostitutes, so the fact that their daughter chose this path is hardly their fault.
Prostitution is a fact of life, & at some levels isn't that bad.
When you see an old, rich man with a young glamorous wife, you can bet your boots she's not after his body.
Being a call girl/boy or up market prostitute who can choose her/his clients, isn't socially harmful, or a masseur who gives that little extra, especially if they pay tax.
What I hate is the whole degradation of football by wags, & obscene salaries for
men who kick balls around.

ID Brighton. What an idiotic comment. People like this girl go astray for all sorts of reasons. Of course they don't recommend it as a career choice in public schools. On average, private is best. If you can genuinely afford private, grab the opportunity with both hands. If private really is an option for you but one you are discounting based on flawed logic, you are being very indulgent of yourself and consequently sacrificing your child's education and start in life so you yourself can do what? Enjoy more holidays? Spend more on your house? Buy a bigger car? Get over yourself woman.

Why. It was nothing to do with them.Parents need to understand that at a certain age the child becomes an adult and has a right to live their lives however they see fit.Parents may not agree with their childs actions or way of life, but should still love them and support them in whatever field they have chosen for themselves.

The parents are not to blame, so why are they apologizing?

Why are they apologising for their daughters behavior I don´t know, its not like she killed someone! They are two consenting adults, one chose to pay lots of money for sexual services, the other chooses to offer it. Of course it would be better that he wasn't married at the time, would have the parents been so vocal if other man hadn't been a football star? Whatever happened to parents supporting their children despite the choices that they make in life!

At last. Slightly better story than who is or is not gay in this liberal world of today. But we all knew he slept with prostitutes didn't we? and so did his wife so what's the big deal? At least they're not fat, old and cheap anymore. Routine HIV/STD family testing recommended.

So this is what they teach in public schools nowadays, is it? Best career choice for a young girl is to become a £1200-a-night prostitute? Think I'll stick with the state education for my daughter...

Ms Thompson also offered "sexual services" in club toilets for £75. It can't be easy for parents to read that, it must be a real blow.

I blame the parents. They might be coming across all humble, but Juicy Jeni didn't turn out like this on her owm. Poor Wayne - no wonder he went looking for love when Colleen is always out doing her modelling and TV work

He's a 24 year old idiot who earns over £5m a year playing football. If he didn't have that talent he'd likely be a labourer, on the dole or on the rob. Frankly who cares what he does when he's off the pitch. Why can't the media injunct themselves and not publish 'news' of footballer's shallow lives. The whole WAG phenomenon would die overnight.

Contrast their genuine condolences with the complete lack of an apology from their awful daughter.

All she's done so far is palm the blame off on Rooney, saying such hilarious things as "As a woman, I wouldn't like that done to me - especially if I was pregnant"!

So why did you do it then, if you're so appalled by Rooney's actions?!!! Where's YOUR apology to Coleen and their son, Kai?

Oh, that's right, your morals are almost as non-existent as Rooney's.

I wonder how many other married or involved men she has slept with. I wonder if she's quite as disgusted by their actions when she's spending the tainted money they've paid her!

This girl needs to grow up and stop hiding behind her parents. Admit that it takes two to tango and that she has just as much to apologise to Coleen for as Rooney does!

Or maybe I'm underestimating this girl. Maybe she's just waiting for a glossy magazine to pay her to express her apologies! I'm sure they'll be far more sincere as long as she's getting paid for them!

What a bitter disappointment she must be to her parents!

This is a silly story.
Their daughter is a prostitute, so what? It's an honest living, or should be. The only Apology should come from Rooney and that to his dopey wife, who will, of course, forgive him for the sake of the money, oh sorry I meant little kai.
