Despite Boris Johnson's gains in many of the 14 Assembly constituencies, all but one were held by the parties previously in control. Only Brent & Harrow changed its political identity with Labour taking it from the Conservatives.
The Assembly's 25 members meet at City Hall where their role is to scrutinise the Mayor. Mr Johnson is not a member of the Assembly but will appear in front of it to answer questions.
The Assembly is made up of 14 constituency members representing their geographical area (see below) as well as 11 "top-up" members who represent the whole of the capital.
