George Osborne is a Conservative Party politician and has been Member of Parliament for Tatton since 2001. Osborne is the Chancellor of the Exchequer and as been since May 2010. Osborne is a member of the Anglo-Irish aristocracy as he is heir to the baronetcy of Ballentaylor, County Tipperary, Ireland. In September 2004, Osborne was appointed Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, then after the 2005 General Election, Osborne was promoted to Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer at the age of 33. Soon after, David Cameron became the Leader of the Conservative Party, but retained Osborne in the position of Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. In 2009, Osborne was implicated in the MP Expenses Scandal, when it emerged that he had been ‘flipping’ the designation of his second home in order to avoid capital gains taxes.
