British Airways plc

British Airways plc is a UK based airline company that holds the title of largest airline in the United Kingdom due to the size of its fleet, as well as international flight destinations and frequencies. However, when measured by number of passengers carried, British Airways ranks 2nd after EasyJet. The two main hubs for British Airways are London Gatwick, and London Heathrow – the only airports in the UK out of which BA runs international flights. The BA fleet is made up of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, the most frequent of which is the Boeing 747-400.

  • In 1993, Richard Branson (owner of Virgin Atlantic) took British Airways to court for libel, after BA allegedly tried to spread potentially discrediting rumours about Branson and his airline.
