Apple iPhone

The iPhone was first announced on 9 July, 2007 by Apple Inc. Since the release of the first iPhone, two updated versions have been released as of June 2009 (the first – iPhone 3G was released in July 2008, and the second – iPhone 3G S was released in March 2009). The iPhone itself is styled as three devices in one: a camera phone (featuring text messaging and visual voicemail), a widescreen colour mp3 player, and a portable internet device (which includes wireless connectivity, web-page browsing and self updating email).

  • Facts
  • The minimal hardware that characterises the iPhone does not account for a keyboard, as a result, the device renders a virtual keyboard on it’s screen that is touch sensitive
  • There are many applications iPhone users can download for use on their device, ranging from online mobile banking, to sports scores updates, to daily crosswords.
  • Photos can be both taken by the in-built camera and displayed on the screen in both portrait, and widescreen landscape format.
  • While the first two iPhones had only still-photo cameras, the iPhone 3G S has video recording capabilities, as well as the ability to cut and crop the captured video.
