Gordon Brown and John Mann

Gordon Brown became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on June 27, 2007 and is leader of the British Labour Party. After earning a PhD in history from the University of Edinburgh, Brown briefly worked as a television journalist before becoming a Member of Parliament in 1983 for Dunfermline East. In 2005, he became MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. From 1997-2007 Brown served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour government led by Tony Blair.
