Barack Obama and Democratic National Convention

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America. Obama is the first African-American to hold the Office of President of the United States, and was elected to the post in November 2008, having served in the United States Senate as the junior Senator from the State of Illinois (from January 2005). After graduating the famous Columbia University in New York, Obama worked as a community organiser before attending Harvard Law School. Following his graduation, Obama served as a civil rights lawyer in Chicago, Illinois, and taught at The University of Chicago Law School. Obama served in the Illinois Senate before being elected to the United States Senate as a representative of Illinois in 2005, and in 2008 was elected President of the United States, defeating Republican candidate John McCain.
