Carla Bruni

Carla Bruni is the First Lady of France and is married to French President Nicolas Sarkozy since February 2008. Although she was born in Italy, Bruni is a naturalised French citizen. She is a singer, songwriter and was at one point a model. Leaving school at 19 to pursue a career in modelling, Bruni had a highly successful run, modelling for designers such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel and Versace. In 1997 Bruni left modelling to enter the music industry, releasing a number of albums before marrying Nicolas Sarkozy, although she still works on music, having released one album since marrying Sarkozy and making live singing appearances.
