Alan Johnson is a Labour Party politician and has been Member of Parliament for Hull West and Hessle since May 1997. Johnson was Home Secretary under Gordon Brown when Labour lost the 2010 General Election. He was named Shadow Chancellor by Ed Miliband until resigning from the role, citing personal issues, in January 2011.
