BBC

The British Broadcasting Corporation was the world's first national broadcasting organisation and was founded on 18 October 1922. It is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world. The BBC is funded by a licence fee, paid by all UK households that have a TV. In April 2009 the TV licence was raised to £142.50 per year. The BBC’s operations are overseen by twelve governors who are appointed by the Crown, on the advice from the Government.
