Boris Johnson and Greater London Council

Boris Johnson is a British politician and journalist. As of June 2009, Johnson is the incumbent Mayor of London having been elected to that position in 2008, defeating then Labour Mayor Ken Livingstone. Nicknamed ‘BoJo’ by various media sources, Johnson was the editor of The Spectator magazine from 1991 to 2005, when he resigned to concentrate on his position as Shadow Minister for Higher Education for the Tory Party. Johnson is known for his distinctive appearance and personality.

Johnson has appeared on numerous television shows which include – Have I Got News for You, Top Gear, Room 101, The Dream of Rome, The Dame Edna Treatment, Who Do You Think You Are?, and After Rome.
Johnson is a graduate of Eton College and Oxford University (Balliol College).
Before becoming editor of The Spectator, Johnson worked at The Times, and The Daily Telegraph.
In August 2008 Johnson broke from the tradition that those in public office not openly comment on other nation’s elections when he publicly endorsed Senator Barack Obama for the position of President of the United States.
