Nick Clegg was born in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire in 1967. He attended Caldicott school in South Buckinghamshire and then Westminster school before going to Robinson College, Cambridge. In 1993 he was the first person to win the Financial Times David Thomas Prize as a journalist writing about the privatisation of businesses in the old Soviet Union. He then became heavily involved in aid organisations before being appointed as a policy adviser and speech writer for the European Union. He started working with the Liberal Democrats in 1999 and became a MP in 2004. In 2006 he became the Home Affairs spokesman for the Liberal Democrats and was elected as party leader in 2007. In May 2010 Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats failed to perform as well as expected in the General Election but then formed a coalition government with the Conservatives. Nick Clegg is now Deputy Prime Minister under David Cameron.
