Carlo Ancelotti enjoyed a distinguished playing career and is one of very few managers to have won the European Cup as both a player and a manager. As a player he captained Roma and played in AC Milan's famous team of the early 90s alongside the likes of Franco Baresi and Frank Rijkaard. His coaching career began at Reggiano where he won promotion before moving to Parma and then Juventus. His first real success came when he moved to AC Milan in 2001. He won the European Cup and the Coppa Italia in his second season followed by the UEFA Super Cup. He won his first and only league title in 2004 and then the European Cup again in 2007. In the summer of 2009 he moved to Chelsea to replace temporary coach Guus Hiddink.
