Carlton Cole is an English professional footballer born in 1983 who currently plays for West Ham. He began his career as a youth team player at Chelsea and former manager, Claudio Ranieri, described the striker as ‘a lion.’ However, Cole did not start to fulfill his potential until the 2008/9 season. Until then his career consisted of loans to clubs such as Wolves and Aston Villa where he could not score the goals people thought he was capable of. He moved to West Ham in 2006 but only started to show some form in the 2007/8 season when he scored 6 goals and got 9 assists. But the following season he hit 12 goals, a personal best, and got 4 assists. His newfound form earned him a first England cap in February 2009 against Spain.
