Wigan Athletic FC is an English professional football team based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. The club’s home is the DW stadium, renamed from the JJB, which they share with Rugby League team Wigan Warriors. The sharing of the stadium also leads to the club’s main rivalry being with the rugby league side and not another football club. The club currently plays in the Premier League following their promotion in 2005. This top flight run is the first in the club’s history, with its highest ever placing being 10th in 2006. The home strip is a blue and white striped shirt with blue shorts and white socks.
