Roy Hodgson’s managerial career began in 1976 in Sweden. He is renowned as a football journeyman having managed clubs in England, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Norway and Finland. His jobs have included time as national coach of Switzerland, Finland and United Arab Emirates. In 2010 Hodgson left Fulham to manage Liverpool after guiding the Cottagers to the Europa League Final, in which they lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid with four minutes of extra-time remaining. Hodgson had made quite a name for himself with the Craven Cottage club, miraculously steering them clear of relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the 2007/08 season. Fulham were staring the drop in the face in 19th place when a second-half Danny Murphy header against Portsmouth sustained their top-flight status. During his tenure with the River Thames outfit, Hodgson also guided Fulham to seventh place the very next season, their highest ever Premier League finish.
