Eduardo Alves da Silva is a Brazilian born Croatian international professional footballer who currently plays for Arsenal. Eduardo grew up in Rio de Janeiro but moved by himself to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia when he was spotted by some of the club’s scouts. He moved there permanently in February 2000. After a spell on loan he established himself in the first team and was named the Croatian league’s best player in 2004, 2006 and 2007. He moved to Arsenal in July 2007. He featured heavily in the Carling Cup where he showed his goal scoring abilities before he cemented his first team place over Christmas and the New Year as he scored goals and made assists. In February 2008 he suffered a horrific injury in which he broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle. Eduardo made his return almost a year later in the FA Cup but suffered a hamstring injury in the same game. He caused controversy as he was accused of diving against Celtic in September 2009, but escaped punishment.
