The high point of Steve Bruce’s playing career was his time at Manchester United during the 90s. Once he retired from football in 1998 Steve Bruce began a managerial career that took him to several different clubs before he joined Sunderland in summer 2009. His first job was as player/manager at Sheffield United where the team narrowly missed out on the Division One play-offs in his first season. He then moved to Huddersfield where he was dismissed after a year. His first stint at Wigan began in April 2001. The Latics made it to the Division Two playoffs, but lost in the semi-finals of. After a 6 month spell at Crystal Palace he was promoted to the Premier League with Birmingham where the club stayed for four years until relegation. He managed to get Birmingham promoted again but moved to Wigan in 2007 and steered them to safety. However, at the beginning of summer 2009 he left for Sunderland.
