Charlton Athletic is an English professional football club based in Charlton, in the London Borough of Greenwich, South East London. Also known by their nickname, ‘The Addicks’, the club was founded in 1905 with the combination of a number of local youth clubs. Charlton’s home stadium is The Valley, which seats around 27,000 fans. In 1920, Charlton first became a professional football club, and in 1921 joined the Football League. Charlton have won the FA Cup once (1947) and were finalists in 1946. They also were two-time champions of the old Division One (1998, 2000) and twice champions of Division Three South (1929, 1935).
