Howard Webb is an English football referee who officiates in the English Premier League, and took charge of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final between Spain and the Netherlands. Rotherham-born Webb also refereed the Champions League final between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich in the same season.
Webb made the record books with the whistle during the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa by brandishing an incredible 14 yellow cards and one red, easily beating Romualdo Arppi Fliho’s previous record when he issued six cautions in the 1986 Final.
Webb became the first English referee to take charge of the World Cup Final since Jack Taylor in 1974. (Giles Lucas)
