Ashley Young is an English professional footballer who currently plays for Aston Villa in the Premier League. He began his career at Watford where he was offered a professional deal by the club after initially being rejected. He made his debut in September 2003 as a substitute against Millwall and went on to make 5 more appearances from the bench that season, scoring 3 goals. In the following seasons at Watford he gradually settled himself into the first team as a striker and in January 2007 several clubs attempted to sign him, with Watford rejecting them all. A bid of £8 million from Aston Villa was eventually accepted and Young signed on 23 January. He made his debut 8 days later and scored against Newcastle. In the 2007/8 season Young finished with 17 assists, second only to Cesc Fabregas. He made his full international debut in 2007 as a substitute against Austria and also started against Holland in 2009.
