Lionel Andres Messi is an Argentinean footballer perceived as the best of his generation. His career began at Rosario-based club side Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.
At just 13 years of age, Messi joined Spanish giants Barcelona after undergoing a successful trial at the Nou Camp.
A pivotal part of Messi’s move to the La Liga club was Barcelona’s offer to pay for treatment to remedy his growth-hormone deficiency - a condition that could have hindered Messi’s career.
Messi has won three La Liga titles, the UEFA European Supercup, the Copa Del Rey, three Spanish Supercups, two UEFA Champions Leagues, one FIFA Club World Cup victory.
