Cheryl Cole (neé Tweedy) became a member of the popular music group Girls Aloud in 2002 and as of January 2012 has had a total of nineteen singles reaching the top ten with the group. Prior to Cheryl Cole’s mainstream success with the group, she was interested in dancing and joined the Royal Ballet’s summer school, aged 16. She also appeared in modelling competitions and several television adverts. In 2008 she replaced Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the 5th series of ITV’s reality program X Factor. She went on to mentor the winner of the series.
