Nick Griffin

Nick Griffin is the chairman of the British National Party, a far-right political party originally formed as a splinter group of the National Front in 1982. While at Downing College at Cambridge University he founded the Young National Front Student organisation. After leaving university he worked at the National Front headquarters, and became a national organiser for them before leaving in 1989 to form the International Third Position, a development of the Political Soldier movement. Griffin joined the British National Party in 1995 which was at that point under the leadership of John Tyndall. In 1999 Griffin took over leadership of the BNP from Tyndall. In 2009, the BNP won two seats in the European Parliamentary Elections.
