Ryan Shawcross

Ryan Shawcross is an English professional footballer born in 1987 who currently plays as a centre back for Stoke City. He began his career as a youth player at Manchester United where he appeared regularly for the reserves and made one appearance for the senior team, as a substitute. He went on loan to Royal Antwerp FC in January 2007 and then to Stoke City in August 2007. After his excellent form for Stoke which included 2 goals in his first two games Stoke made the loan a permanent transfer in January 2008 and he helped the club to promotion in that season. Due to his continued good form over his first Premier League season he was subject of much transfer speculation in summer 2009 but this was rejected by him and the club.
