Muammar Gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi was born in 1942 and seized power in Libya in 1969 after a bloodless coup. His 42-year rule was brought to an end when he was overthrown by Nato-supported Libyan rebels early in 2011. After eight months at large, Gaddafi was killed in October 2011 in his hometown of Sirte.
