The Open Championship

The Open Championship is the oldest of the four 'major' golf tournaments and was first played in 1860. The event takes place on one of nine courses in a rota, five of which are based in Scotland and four in England. Among the previous winners of the famous 'Claret Jug' trophy are Tom Watson (5 wins), Nick Faldo (3 wins), Tiger Woods (3 wins) and Padraig Harrington (2 wins). 2010 marked the 150th anniversary of the competition.
