Worse than you'd Imagine

Lennon the musical finally opened last night ... and was slaughtered by critics.

Its first night, at New York's Broadhurst Theatre, came after two delays and a slew of controversy.

Nine actors, male and female, black and white, portray the legendary singer at various stages in his life.

One critic wondered: 'Should you plop down 100 dollars for a theatre ticket or just stay home and listen to your old records? In the case of Lennon, the answer is easy: Light one up and put on the stereo.'

Meanwhile, Yoko Ono denied claims made in the show that she was to blame for the Beatles' break-up, saying: 'People will interpret the musical however they want.'
