Lost souls

Being Norwegian
A Play, A Pie, A Pint: But is Lisa really Norwegian?

By Fiona Mountford
2 Nov 2007

A Play, A Pie, A Pint does exactly what it says on the tin. That ever-enterprising new writing company Paines Plough, currently in residence in the cavernous Shunt Vaults under London Bridge station, provides its post-work punters - players? Pinters? - with the victuals then invites them to watch 45 minutes of specially commissioned drama.

It's an idea that has been wowing Glasgow for three years; it certainly beats rush hour on the Underground.

This week sees Being Norwegian from the astoundingly prolific David Greig, who finishes plays with the ease others do crosswords.

Sean and Lisa, two lost souls with uncertain pasts, come back to Sean's flat. Sean might not be what he seems, Lisa might not be Norwegian, but Greig writes with warmth and honesty and Meg Fraser, in her fur bobble hat, is delightful.
